Early Intervention Program

Early Intervention is a national program for infants and toddlers with disabilities or developmental delays and is administered by the New York State Department of Health.  It was established as part of Public Health Law in 1993. To be eligible for services, children must be under 3 years of age and have a confirmed disability or established developmental delay, as defined by the State, in one or more of the following areas of development:

  • PhysicalPicture of children
  • Cognitive
  • Communication
  • Social-emotional
  • Adaptive

Early Intervention coordination is offered through the Livingston County Department of Health. The program offers a variety of therapeutic and support services to eligible infants and toddlers (ages 0-3 years) with disabilities and their families to include:

  • Family education and counseling, home visits, and parent support groups
  • Special instruction
  • Speech Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Psychological Services
  • Service Coordination
  • Nursing Services
  • Nutrition Services
  • Social Work Services
  • Vision Services
  • Audiological Services
  • Assistive Technology Devices and Services

Referrals can be accepted from healthcare providers, daycare providers (upon approval from parents), or from parents themselves.  If you are concerned about your child's development, please call 585-243-7299 and ask to speak with an Early Intervention Service Coordinator.

Child Find

The goal of Child Find is to ID, locate, refer for care, and provide follow up for infants and toddlers who are at risk for physical and developmental delays.  This can include:

  • Monitoring process provided to screen for possible developmental delays
  • Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQs)
