GENESEO, N.Y., Jan. 27, 2026 — The Livingston Board of Elections (BoE) is giving one local student the chance to put their original art in thousands of voters’ hands during the 2026 election cycle. Election officials are calling on Livingston County students in grades 5-12 to send in their entries now for the third annual “I Voted” Sticker Design Contest. All submissions are due by March 31, 2026.
Poll workers will distribute stickers with the winning design to voters throughout the County as they cast their ballots this year. The contest started in 2024 as a way to increase interest and participation in local elections. This year’s competition takes the civic-minded theme a step further by also incorporating America’s upcoming semiquincentennial marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence’s adoption. In addition to the words “I Voted,” contest submissions should also include the number “250” or “1776-2026” in honor of the country’s milestone.
The Board of Elections partnered with the Livingston County Historian’s Office to emphasize the significance of this anniversary and commemorate the country’s 250 years of growth and development.
“Throughout the year, we, along with many across the nation, are recognizing the founding of the U.S. and all the people and events that have made us who we are today,” said County Historian Holly Watson. “History isn't just in the past, but is being constructed every day. An event like this sticker contest, which encourages kids to participate in their community, recognizes our collective foundations as well as what we can continue to build together.”
Last year’s contest winner was Madeline Strain, then a senior from Keshequa Central School. The County Board of Elections visited her school to celebrate Strain’s win and present her with a certificate. She was also recognized for her work by the County’s Board of Supervisors during their July 23, 2025, meeting.
Students or their teachers may submit finished artwork in photo, PDF, PNG, JPG or JPEG file formats no larger than one gigabyte in size to election@livingstoncountyny.gov before the March 31 deadline. The BoE will select the top five entries and place them online for a final public vote during the first two weeks of April. The winning design will appear on election-related materials through the November 2026 general election. Contest rules are available on the Board of Elections’ website.
