Home Posted on August 23, 2024

GENESEO, N.Y., Aug. 23, 2024 – Two Livingston County employees, Purchasing Director Ashley Scutt and Records Inventory Supervisor Megan Sokolow, have successfully completed the National Association of Counties (NACo) High Performance Leadership Academy (HPLA). The 12-week online course equips front line county government professionals with leadership skills to achieve results for county residents.

With a robust curriculum developed by the Professional Development Academy in partnership with Fortune 1000 executives, public sector leaders, world-renowned academics and thought leaders, including the late General Colin Powell, HPLA was designed specifically for the unique challenges and opportunities encountered while serving in county government.

“Livingston County stands out as a workplace that supports staff seeking ways to grow personally and professionally,” said Sokolow. “Throughout the course, we had several opportunities to reflect on how we see ourselves and our roles in Livingston County government. It allowed us to take those reflections and coalesce them around a vision for our service to the community. We also developed leadership oaths that serve as guideposts toward bringing positivity and vigor to our county workforce.”

“I’m thankful for the opportunity to grow professionally and improve my skills to better serve our residents,” added Scutt. “I am grateful to Livingston County for investing in our professional development, which empowers us to lead with purpose and integrity.”

Investing in staff leadership skills and encouraging professional development opportunities are a priority for the county, said County Administrator Ian M. Coyle.

“We remain committed to investing in our staff's growth and potential through opportunities like these,” said Coyle. “Emphasizing continuous learning and leadership development doesn’t just enhance individual careers - it strengthens the foundation of Livingston County government as a whole.”
