MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y., Oct. 21, 2025 — The Livingston County Department of Health has launched an opioid awareness and education public service announcement (PSA) campaign in partnership with Buffalo-based Trellis Marketing, Inc. and the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC).
"Livingston County is proud to partner with Trellis on this important program," said Public Health Director Jennifer Rodriguez. "Our goal is that this year-long campaign will educate people about the disease of opioid use disorder, inform them of the dangers of recreational drug use, reduce stigma, and ultimately inspire more residents to connect with the supports they need."
The statewide opioid awareness and education program began in 2018 when members of the New York State Coroners Association recognized an alarming number of deaths resulting from opioid overdoses and felt compelled to act. They worked with NYSAC and Trellis Marketing to create a media plan that delivers effective PSA messaging around substance use disorder and mental health supports.
"Our counties continue to confront the effects of substance use disorder in our communities every day," said NYSAC Executive Director Steve Acquario. "We appreciate Livingston County's leadership on the fighting of the opioid crisis and we are pleased to endorse this important PSA campaign, as it addresses every New York State county's most urgent issue by highlighting the dangers associated with opioid use, reducing stigma and inspiring others to seek help with real stories of recovery."
