GENESEO, N.Y., May 6, 2025 - Livingston County is proud to honor and celebrate the dedication and compassion of members of the healthcare field as it joins the country in celebrating National Nurses Week May 6-12, 2025. This year’s theme, “The Power of Nurses,” emphasizes the vital role nurses play in healthcare and the important contributions of nurses worldwide.
From long-term care to community wellness, nurses serve in nearly every area of the County’s public health system providing invaluable services to the community. They include Adult Day Health Care at the Garden of Life, hospice, lead and immunization programs, health services at the Livingston County Jail, mental health, WIC, Children with Special Health Care Needs, the Center for Sexual Health and Wellness, and many more.
The County’s Department of Health will host a breakfast for health staff celebrating County nurses on Friday, May 9.
“Livingston County is fortunate to have an outstanding team of nurses and healthcare professionals who show up every day to provide our residents with first-rate care,” said Board Chair David LeFeber. “Their commitment and expertise are deeply appreciated. We are proud to honor and support them during Nurses Week and throughout the year.”
The County’s nursing staff is also an essential part of the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (CNR), one of the region’s largest and most comprehensive healthcare facilities. The CNR’s diverse care offerings include bariatric care, speech and occupational therapy, audiology, consulting podiatry, and several more, supported by a skilled nursing team committed to patient-centered care.
Founded in 1982, National Nurses Week is an opportunity to provide thanks and recognition to members of the nation’s largest health care profession. Nurses are essential to every healthcare setting and play a significant role in helping to educate the public on how to prevent illness and promote well-being. National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6, National Nurses Day, and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
