Livingston County Proudly Helps Support Cornell Cooperative Extension Livingston

Home Posted on January 16, 2024

GENESEO, N.Y., Jan. 16, 2024 — Livingston County is proud to announce the allocation of $547,500 in funding to support the work of Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Livingston as part of the County’s 2024 budget. The County’s annual support of local community partners demonstrates its strong commitment to the non-profit organizations serving the Livingston County community.

Since 1913, CCE Livingston has provided County residents with unbiased, research-based information, tools and education. The agency also offers many programs and services, including agricultural education, community-based nutrition, traffic safety, and veteran initiatives. The County’s funding will help expand and enhance some of the core programs offered by CCE Livingston, including agriculture, food safety, parenting education, and 4-H youth development.

“Funding for our local community partners plays an important role in supporting our community’s growth and resilience,” said David LeFeber, Chair of the Livingston County Board of Supervisors. “Cornell Cooperative Extension Livingston’s diverse programs have a direct impact on our education, agriculture and community well-being. We’re proud to support the work they do across our County.”

In 2023, Livingston County’s funding support helped to enhance and continue growing CCE Livingston’s agriculture in the classroom initiative. The program educates students in grades Pre-K through 12 on the impacts agriculture has in their everyday lives. CCE Livingston’s agriculture in the classroom educators conducted lessons in more than 75 classrooms within all the school districts across Livingston County.
