MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y., Aug. 12, 2024 — For the first time in nearly four years, the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (CNR) has reopened its adult day health care facility, known as the Garden of Life, a key component of its on-site clinical capabilities.
Suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CNR’s Garden of Life provides an alternative to traditional adult residency programs by offering daytime clinical and social services. The reopening represents a significant milestone for the CNR and the community it serves, offering vital professional support for adults requiring daytime care. CNR Director of Long-Term Care Shari Hutchison said the reopened facility is a benefit not only to patients, but their caregivers, as well.
“We’re pleased to once again offer this invaluable service to our adult population in need of support. The toll of being a caregiver, the stress and burnout one can experience, is oftentimes over looked,” explained Hutchison. “These are usually family members acting in this role. Our state-of-the-art facility gives their loved ones a secure location to spend the day receiving high-level care personalized to their particular needs. It gives caregivers time to recharge and peace of mind knowing their loved ones are safe and receiving the treatment they need from qualified professionals.”
The Garden of Life provides a comprehensive range of services tailored to meet individual patient needs. In addition to personalized care plans, the facility offers:
- Rehabilitation services: physical, occupational, and speech therapy
- Scheduled dental care, audiology, and ophthalmology examinations
- On-site laboratory and podiatry services
- Monitoring and coordinating treatments and medications
- Therapeutic, social, and recreational activities
- Assistance with activities of daily living
One of the most comprehensive facilities in the area, the Center also offers various treatment methods and state-of-the-art healthcare options ranging from on-site dialysis and bariatric care, to pharmacological services, hair care, and more.
The reopening comes at a pivotal time, as many adult day health care programs across New York State have struggled to resume full-time operations following pandemic-related closures. The return of the Garden of Life facility demonstrates Livingston County's commitment to providing comprehensive care options for all its residents.
